CURIOSITIES

The prickly pear is an ancient plant, once revered by the Aztecs who considered it sacred.
It is a succulent plant with flat, paddle-shaped leaves known as “cladodes,” which bear spiny fruits. It can reach heights of 4 to 5 meters and grows wild across much of the Sicilian territory. It is also used to create impenetrable hedges, act as a windbreak, and help prevent the spread of fires, thanks to its water-rich leaves.
